On this day:

Give it a rest

The latest twist in the long-running and, frankly, ridiculous dispute between Greece and Macedonia (Former Yugoslav Republic of) over the latter's name may be drawing to a close. According to reports, the Greeks may be willing to accept the compromise name of the Republic of Makedonia-Skopje for their northern neighbour. To which most of the rest of the world says 'whatever'. The dispute centers around Greece's fear that if it calls itself Macedonia, the ex-Yugoslav state is tacitly making a claim for the Greek province of Macedonia. Funnily enough, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has yet to make a claim for ownership of the neighbouring Belgian province of Luxembourg. We await their low-tax invasion with baited breath!
