Be Here Now - preamble

When I launched this blog six months ago, one of my aims was to put online my Master's thesis, 'Be Here Now: Pop Music and The Heritage Industry'. Today, I am finally getting round to doing so, (hands off, plagiarists!) beginning with the intro and chapter one, to be followed shortly by chapters two and three, the outro and appendices.
A little background: the 20,000 word thesis was conceived in 1995 and written between 1996 and 1998. Ron Moy was my supervisor. The title page featured a photo of a clock with no hands.
