Stalin's Forgotten Zion

I stumbled across a fantastic website yesterday, following a lead picked up while browsing nationmaster.com. The site in question is an online exhibition about Birobidzhan, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast created by Stalin in 1934. This excellent resource, maintained by Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, not only sheds light on a little known, but fascinating experiment in social engineering (Birobidzhan was conceived as an alternative location to Palestine for the Jewish homeland), it is also beautifully designed.
